drabble about Jack and halloween costumes ?
Halloween was always a special time for Jack. A constant in his life, from childhood to now, Jack just lived for the season. The cool, crisp weather, the changing of the leaves, the overall spookiness that October always brought with it. Part of Jack’s yearly ritual was picking out the perfect costume, something he always put a lot of heart, energy, and time into.
Was it silly? Maybe....but it was important to Jack. A shred of his former normalcy that he liked to cling to, finding comfort in pretending to be supernatural instead of actually being just that.
At least now he had Seraph to drag along with him.
Seraph, who’s reaction to Jack’s childlike obsession fluctuated between playful annoyance and endearment.
How they watched as their best friend ran down the aisles, thumbing through racks upon racks of tacky costumes, inwardly pleased to see them so happy.
“What do you think of this one?” Jack asked, holding up a relatively decent looking werewolf costume.
“Too hairy.” the half demon quipped as they picked up a mask to halfheartedly examine.
“Right, right...uh...” Jack dove back into the rack, pulling out another. “How about the zombie? The mask oozes fake blood and-” “No.” Seraph said firmly, mind made up upon hearing the word ooze. “Absolutely not.”
He sighed, grumbling as he tossed the costume back onto the rack. He huffed, glancing around.
“What about the demon costume?”
“Am I a joke to you, West?” Seraph feigned offense, scoffing. Jack saw right through it, rolling his eyes as he walked over and draped his arms around their shoulders.
“Kind of, yeah?” he teased, lifting a hand to ruffle their hair. “Come on, Seraph...I wanna find something cool...and I was kinda hoping maybe we could maybe dress up together.”
Seraph looked into Jack’s eyes, so puppy dog like, so pleading...and relented. They lifted a hand to pat his cheek. “Fine...” they said. “...but only if it’s expensive and makes me the center of attention.”
Jack grinned.
“Deal.”
